I saw this article in the Dallas Morning News today. It is the story of a man who lived near DFW that died just the other day. It’s not so much a story about a WW II veteran as it is the story of a simple man who lived his life in sight of others and in the process left a memorable legacy for all of them. It is a story of a simple man whose life tells others that real heroism is really only found in the silent, hidden parts of our character that only a small number of people will ever know. But the ones that see it – will always hold dear forever.

The North Texas housing market was mercifully spared the severe ravages of the real estate market bubble due to the fact that our prices were not overinflated in the first place and because our economy has fared better than the rest of the country. I went down to the downtown Dallas Art District today to enjoy the live musics at the grand opening of the AT&T Performing Arts Center. It was terrific! Live music and dance. A great crowd of people. What a great day for Dallas, TX!

We have so many great things planned for downtown Dallas that I had discussed in DallasPerspectives 1.0. I’ll expand on them again later. But, in short, they include (in part) the Trinity River Project, Woodall Rodgers Park and the Dallas Convention Center Hotel.

Today I volunteered at the invite of some friends, Scott and Emma Monaco, with Habitat for Humanity in a new neighborhood they have going up about 3 miles east of Fair Park and South of I-30. It was a great day, but I’m beat!
